The night life varies widely in New York City depending on what areas interest you. For the more adventurous there is the Village, with its coffee houses, bars and "Off Broadway" theaters. If you're more conservative, Lincoln Center might be more to your liking. Lincoln Center has year-round activity in music, drama and dance. Here you will also find the New York Philharmonic, New York City Ballet, and the Metropolitan Opera House. No trip to New York City is complete without visiting the new cleaner, friendlier Times Square also know as "The Great White Way". This theatrical center of the city is surrounded by playhouses, first-run movies, nightclubs, hotels and shops. Radio City Music Hall, home of the Rockettes, features concerts, special performances and spectacular reviews. At Rockefeller Center you can enjoy an outdoor dinner in summer or go ice-skating during winter in the sunken Plaza. Whatever your interests are, there is something for everyone, the hard part is just deciding what to choose.

No visit to New York City would be complete without experiencing the thrill of shopping at some of New York's famous department stores, boutiques, shopping districts and
neighborhoods.

One thing you are sure to find in the self-proclaimed fashion capital of the country is clothes. From the bargains of the Garment District to the haute couture shops of Madison Avenue, there is something for everyone's taste and budget.

New York City's department stores rival the best in Paris. Macy's at Herald Square claims to be the largest department store on earth. Saks Fifth Avenue has surprisingly great bargains on just-out-of-season clothes. For the major European and American designers, Barneys New York is the place to go. New Yorkers line up for Barneys' semi-annual warehouse sales in late August and January.

Some of New York City's most famous shopping neighborhoods include: the Flower District; the Garment District; the secondhand jeans ghetto; the Shoe Street; the historic Orchard Street bargain district; artsy SoHo and the rich ethnic neighborhoods of Chinatown, Harlem and the Lower East Side.

New York also has numerous flea markets almost year-round. These are usually held in established locations (such as vacant lots) and offer a wide selection of unusual old and new items.

New York City has more great restaurants, with a variety to choose from, than any other city in the world. Plus, you don't have to go broke to enjoy a good meal. You will find many inexpensive restaurants, bistros and cafes that serve excellent food. If you are in the mood for something different, choose from an Austrian, Afghanistan, Thailand, Turkey or Indian Restaurant. If that's a little too different, there is always Chinatown or Little Italy.
